Have you ever wished for a new planet that you could go live on just to be rid of the troubles of this world - a world where people did right instead of wrong? Well, in the end of 2nd Peter, we find:
Hey! It's not just me! This is encouraging in these present times. Not only do we wish it, but He has promised it! There's a new world coming - a better one. This reminds me of the Nina Simone song, New World Coming:Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells. (2Peter3:13; NKJV)
That middle section comes from Revelation 15, if you were wondering. There's a new world commin'And it's just around the bendThere's a brand new mornin'That belongs to you and meA new world commin'The one we had vision ofAnd its commin' in peaceIs commin in joyand commin in love...yea...yea...yeaThere's a new world commin'And its just around the bendThere's a new day dawningthe one that's for you and meA new world commin'The one we've had vision ofand its commin in peacecommin' in loveCommin' in peaceCommin' in joyand commin in peacecommin' in joyAnd commin in loveAnd I saw another sign in HeavenGreat and marvelousSeven angels having the seven last plaguesfor in them is filled up the Wrath of GodAnd I saw as it were a sea of glass mingled with fireAnd them that had gotten the victory over the beastAnd over his imageand over his markand over his name, stand on the sea of glasswith the harps of God all around them. There's a new world commin'and its just around the bendThere's a new day dawning
.
With that New World in mind, turn back to 2nd Peter:
With that New World in mind, turn back to 2nd Peter:
Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat? (2Pet3:11-12;NKJV; emphasis mine)...and from there to the end of John's Revelation:
He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming quickly.” Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus! (Rev 22:20;NKJV)
